Our Story

Yesterday..

Harvest Christian Fellowship was founded in 2000 by pastor Brad Huckabee.  The early days of Harvest consisted of a lot of hard work and constant prayer.  By 2001, Harvest purchased it’s current building at 211 N. Main.  Since that time, Harvest has continued to bloom and grow.  In 2009 pastor Brad Huckabee sensed a change of direction for his life and sought out a pastor to shepherd the church into the next season.  In 2010, pastor Sonny Smart followed a call of the Lord to come and pastor the church.  From 2010 to present the church has enjoyed tremendous growth.

Today...

Following 2020, our vision at Harvest began to clarify and expand.  We developed a 5-point vision that we believe will lead us to the future God has for us.  Those 5 points are: #1 - Jesus and His Kingdom, #2 - Dangerous Disciples, #3 - One People, #4 - Multi-Generational, #5 - On Mission. In response to this vision we felt the call to expand our facility in 2021 to be able to reach our area and effectively minister to all generations.  This was the biggest risk in our church’s history… to build when world was turned upside down.  In 2022 our current facility came together through the generous donations of members and many other Christ followers across Texas.  It was truly a miracle!  What's more, the miracle continued.  Before long, our youth and children’s area became inadequate.  In 2023 we purchased the property across the street, formerly known as the Maverick Cafe.  Since that time we have remodeled that facility through many generous donations from our community and beyond. It is now our youth facility.  We are truly walking in God’s miraculous provision as we have been diligent to seek Jesus and His Kingdom first.

Tomorrow...

We are truly living in miraculous times as we see revivals springing up all over the country.  At the same time, evil continues to rage against Jesus and His Kingdom. We must be On Mission with Jesus.  Our strategy is to become Dangerous Disciples making Dangerous Disciples.  Dangerous Disciples carry what they have found in Jesus to Seymour and other communities, regions, states and nations for the establishing of Jesus’ church.  It is a simple strategy based upon the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19-20 & Acts 1:8). If it turned the 1st century world upside down for Christ, it will turn the 21st century world upside down too. We shall faithfully continue to make Dangerous Disciples until we all see Revelation 11:15 come to pass. “Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!”
